As the year winds down and we get ready to usher in 2016, it’s a good time for us to look back at key CSR milestones globally and in ASEAN. On the global front, the Sustainable Development Goals were launched in September 2015 and in December, COP21 Climate Change Summit reached a historic agreement to commit all countries to cut carbon emissions. In ASEAN, the 2025 Plan was unveiled and CSR was featured for the first time in all three pillars – ASEAN Political-Security Community Blueprint, ASEAN Economic Community Blueprint and ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Blueprint. Responsible business have a key role in achieving the ASEAN vision of realizing a rules-based, people-oriented and people-centred ASEAN Community. On our end, the ASEAN CSR Network (ACN) made progress toward realising our ASEAN CSR Vision 2020 to support the development of an integrated, equitable and sustainable ASEAN Community through promoting awareness and implementation of international standards on CSR. In working towards our Vision, we organised two major events in 2015 – the ASEAN Next Gen CSR Forum from 3-7 February and the ASEAN Responsible Business Forum from 27-29 October. These events helped us to raise awareness, build capacity and rally collective action on key issues. In addition to these events, ACN also participated or co-organised many in-country events. You can find more details of the events here. All this would not have been made possible without the generous support of:
- Donors - Swedish Government through its Embassy in Bangkok, the Japanese government through the Japan-ASEAN Solidarity Fund, UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office through its Prosperity Fund and the Canadian Government through its Canada Fund for Local Initiatives
- Participating Organisations
- Board of Trustees
- Partners on various projects
- The ASEAN Secretariat and sectoral bodies
We look forward to working with you again next year as we build on our momentum achieved this year. Thank you once again for your generous and continued support for ASEAN CSR Network. |
