CSR Practitioners, Academics, and Advocates in ASEAN meet at SCOPE event
The Sustainability Consortium of Professionals and Educators (SCOPE) held a Meeting of Interested Parties on 20 November 2017 at the NUS Business School.
Co-organized by the ASEAN CSR Network (ACN) with the Centre for Governance, Institutions and Organisations (CGIO) of the National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School, SCOPE was an initiative to bring together key stakeholders and representatives from the academe, civil society, and the private sector to discuss challenges in CSR and to develop collaborative solutions for responsible business, business integrity, and sustainability.
The event was attended by 30 experts in the private sector, the academe, and civil society from 7 ASEAN countries--Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Laos. The group was composed of an interesting mix of multisectoral representatives that enabled the discussion and analyses to be dynamic and critical, while unpacking difficult issues in the theory and practice of responsible business in their respective fields.
The format provided each participant with an equal opportunity to contribute to the discussions, which were facilitated by the CEO of ASEAN CSR Network (ACN), Mr. Thomas Thomas, and the Director of the Centre for Governance, Institutions and Organisations (CGIO) of the NUS Business School, Prof. Lawrence Loh.
The working groups were convened by the Chair of ACN Ms Yanti Triwadiantini. The participants were divided into 3 groups to develop possible solutions for assigned topics.
The day-long event culminated in a presentation of the results of the groupwork, and a synthesis by Ms Yanti Triwadiantini and Prof. Lawrence Loh.
An report of the outcomes of the SCOPE Meeting of Interested Parties is being prepared by the ACN Secretariat.
