a) CSR and Social Innovators Forum 1 - 2 Sept 2016
This year, Global Compact Network Singapore (GCNS) and the Social Innovation Park (SIP) collaborated to bring a two-day forum that furthers both organisations’ interest in building Singapore’s Future Socio-Economy, as a ground up initiative. Under the overarching theme of Co-creating the Future Economy, the 2-day CSR and Social Innovators Forum explored best practices, innovations, trends and ideas in an international context around the topics of corporate reporting, the SDGs, circular economy, sharing economy, post COP21 and many more.
b) TBN Asia Impact Investment Conference 6 - 7 Sept 2016
Transformational Business Network Asia, an affiliate of Transformational Business Network UK, a not-for-profit organisation is set up to provide a network for foundations, family offices, philanthropists, impact funds, corporations, entrepreneurs and professionals to invest in business enterprises that focus on transforming local communities through various social matrices. This inaugural impact investment conference brings together an international gathering of leading academics, impact investors, institutional investors and social entrepreneurs to discuss and share their journeys.
c) AVCJ ESG Forum 5 Sept 2016
ACN supported the 2nd Annual AVCJ PRI ESG Forum in Singapore on 5 September. The Forum gathered more than 110 of the industry's leading figures for a day of education, benchmarking and the exchange of ideas on how the investment community operating in Asia can utilise Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles.
d) 5th Conference on Business and Human Rights in Tokyo 14 - 15 Sept 2016
Since 2013, they had organized and implemented “Business and Human Rights Conference in Tokyo” to provide a place for discussion and sharing. “2106 Business and Human Rights Conference in Tokyo” presented an overview of “2016 Human Rights Due Diligence Workshop” and corporate practices related to Business and Human Rights. Contents of the discussions of this conference will be introduced and shared globally at UN Forum on Business and Human Rights in Geneva in November.
e) F2F Bangkok 13 - 15 Sept 2016
Close to 20 international and local NGOs - including ACN - met in Bangkok to discuss a joint project on gender transformation in the agricultural sector (or GRAISEA). This Oxfam-led project aims to build sustainable supply chains while advocating for gender equality in industries such as palm oil and fisheries. ACN's role was to help the group advance forward with ASEAN-wide policy shifts. ACN's key contribution to GRAISEA will be convening a conference for the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) at the end of this year, and ensuring that GRAISEA's objectives for sustainable and gender-equitable agribusinesses are met in the recommendations presented to AICHR.
f) Anti-Corruption Week 19 - 23 Sept 2016
The British High Commission, Singapore hosted the first International Anti-Corruption Week in Singapore. The International Anti-Corruption Week was themed around anti-corruption, tax and money laundering and brought together experts from the UK and across East Asia with a focus on law enforcement, anti money laundering and tax specialists from the government sector, along with professionals from financial industry. At the Opening, Mr Thomas Thomas, CEO, ACN delivered a speech. Some of the points included that businesses should also have to share some blame for corrupt practices, the need to strengthen business integrity. Recently, ACN did a study with NUS on business integrity disclosures and practices of the top 50 listed companies in the 5 ASEAN countries.
g) Charity Governance Conference 28 Sept 2016
The Charity Council (Singapore) believes in the promotion of good governance and good disclosure practices among charities so that they are able to serve their beneficiaries more effectively and be accountable to their donors and the public. The Council was a supporting partner for the Charity Governance Conference on 28 Sept, organised by Securities Investors Association (Singapore) (SIAS), as part of their Corporate Governance Week. The topics included lessons on corporate governance applicabale to charities and investing surplus funds. ACN has charity status as an International Charity Organisation.
